The Syracuse New Times Syracuse Area Music Awards is happy to announce that its 2010 People's Choice vote has begun as of July 28, 2010. Log on to our website, www.syracuseareamusic.com, to vote for this year's Best Place to Hear Live Music and Best Band awards. Click on the "People's Choice" link at the top of the page.
The vote is our way of asking Syracuse to dole its own honors onto two worthy recipients each year. We encourage you to let us know who your Sammy winner is this year.
Visitors to the site will have the opportunity to vote once per day for both or either of those two categories;vote as many times as you'd like. You must use a valid e-mail address to register your vote.
Starting August 18, 2010, entrants to the contest will be cut in half each Wednesday, beginning with the top 128 bands and venues by vote for a round of open submissions that will run through that period. Once a band is submitted, they may be voted for by returning visitors to the site. Anyone is welcome to submit any band or venue to the system through Aug. 18, at which time the voting will switch to just the top 128 by votes. A vote for the final two bands will be held on Oct. 6, and the winner will be announced at this year's Syracuse New Times Syracuse Area Music Awards Show, which will be held during our Music Industry Conference at the (Onondaga County Convention Center (Oncenter), 800 S. State St. from Friday, Oct. 8, through Sat., Oct. 9 ; the award show will take place on Oct. 8 at 7 p.m.
